Alpine Adventure's Kayak Instruction program is for people of all ages and experience levels. We start with the
basic building blocks and use innovative progressions to ensure that students are comfortable.
We put together a custom learning package to meet the student's individual needs and intensity levels.
Kayaking trips 4-5 hours from the meet time. Our meeting times are flexible usually between 10am - 12pm. Kayak instuction is normally one on one or a 1:2 ratio. All kayak lessons include: kayak, spray skirt, neoprene booties, wetsuit, splash jacket, personal flotation device, shuttle, and an instructor. Click here for Kayak instruction rates. Alpine Adventures offers 1-3 day instruction packages.
Our introduction to kayaking meets in Leavenworth. After going over basic knowledge, terminology, and gear we get the boat adjusted to your body type. Start by sitting in the boat on dry land and get a comfortable. Once we put
into the river there is slow moving water to start practicing balance and paddling. Once the student is comfortable we will slowly continue downstream
going over the basics. There will be an oppurtunity to try an eskimo roll. The instructor will stand in the river next to your boat and help
you go through the motions, as well as be there to turn you right side up. This trip is
available April through September. Should you choose to do a 2-Day instruction we will review the 1st day and practice rolling the boat. Depending on skill / comfort levels we will either paddle the Cashmere to Monitor section of river or we can do the Upper Wenatchee from the lake to Plain.
Multi-Day kayak trips are the best way to become a kayaker. Our course starts in the pool and gradually progresses through different sections of the river. Start in calm water and then moving water followed by class 1 and 2 rapids working
your way up to class 3 whitewater. Need a place to stay while learning to kayak? You can either camp at the KOA or up Icicle Canyon. Ask about our
hotel deals for a 1 or 2 nights stay.
